YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
You’ll be able to tell your friends and family that you work in an old jail! Our historic 150 years old building has been a hostel for 50 years, but before that it was a jail. Although we’ve added comfort, we haven’t touched the most distinctive elements, like the stone walls and iron doors in cells. The travellers can still sleep in the jail cells and live an out of the ordinary experience.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll be responsible for serving breakfast in the morning and make sure that the dining area stays clean for guests. On the occasion, you could be called to participate to our hostel activities offered to the travellers (pub crawl, BBQs, etc.) to help our Activity Curator.
MORE SPECIFICALLY, YOU WILL BE CALLED TO
- Prepare the breakfast (cut fruits, prepare coffee, boil eggs, cut bagels – small preparations).
- Make sure that everything stays filled up as the guests serve themselves during the breakfast.
- Provide hospitality and excellent customer service to guests.
- Keep the dining area clean for guests.
- Once a week, help the Activity Curator with hostel activities.
- Carry out any related task.
YOU ARE THE PERFECT PERSON IF YOU HAVE
- You have a talent for customer service.
- You like to work alone and as a part of a team.
- You’re a stickler for detail.
- You’re comfortable with routine work.
- You can work weekends.
- You have a strong knowledge of English.
- You have a food handling certification (an asset).
- You know the hostel business (an asset).
- You speak other languages (an asset).
WHAT WE OFFER
- Permanent, part-time position.
- Weekends only, 16 to 20 hours a week.
- Remuneration: Starting salary at $19,57/hour.
