Saintlo Ottawa-Jail hostel is looking for FULL-TIME housekeepers to join its team!

Your work environment:

You’ll be able to tell your friends and family that you work in an old jail! Our historic 150 years old building has been a hostel for 50 years, but before that it was a jail. Although we’ve added comfort, we haven’t touched the most distinctive elements, like the stone walls and iron doors in cells. The travellers can still sleep in the jail cells and live an out of the ordinary experience.

Your responsibilities:

You’ll be responsible for cleaning, maintaining and setting up the rooms, bathrooms and other designated places.

More specifically, you will be called to:

  • Clean the rooms and common areas;
  • Apply cleaning and maintenance procedures to quality standards;
  • Wash the mirrors, dust the furniture, make the beds, etc.;
  • Vacuum in the rooms, corridors and stairways;
  • Empty the paper, compost and garbage containers;
  • Maintain certain rooms and equipment periodically;
  • Manage the lost and found;
  • Store and classify the material;
  • Signal the repairs that need to be done;
  • Do the inventory of cleaning products;
  • Prepare and refill the self-serve breakfast;
  • Carry out any related task.

  • You like to work alone and as a part of a team;
  • You’re a stickler for detail;
  • You’re comfortable with routine work;
  • You handle stress well;
  • You’re independent, dynamic, social, honest, versatile, discreet, and you show initiative and organizational skills;
  • You’re tactful;
  • You can work evenings and weekends (according to your availability);
  • You have a strong knowledge of English;
  • You know the hotel business (an asset);
  • You speak other languages (an asset).
