Enjoy a gourmet meal on the Lachine Canal or the top of Mount Royal: anything is possible when you get your eats to go. Feel like soul-comforting ramen, spicy pizza, a colourful poke bowl, or savoury falafels? Here are six restaurants to treat yourself to pleasure, on a budget.

Kazu

This restaurant has a delightfully original take on Japanese dishes. We suggest the Yaki Gyoza; the house Ramen; and the Chirashi-zushi, a raw tuna and fresh salmon sashimi, served with rice and marinated veggies. As the restaurant is just a few minutes by foot from the Saintlo Montréal hostel, you can order to go or have it delivered.

Venice

Looking for sun and healthy food? With its California-inspired menu, the Venice has what you’re looking for. We recommend the savoury, well-garnished pokés, gourmet salads and bols-repas (we quite like the Indian). They also offer a selection of burgers served with sweet potato fries. You can get you meal to enjoy by the water in Old Montreal or have it delivered.

Satay Brothers

Discover Singapore cuisine at the Satay Brothers. This Montreal institution offers flavourful dishes relevés. Satés, buns and fried rice dishes compete for your attention. And while you’re in the neighbourhood, why not take some time out to visit authentic Saint-Henri.

Sumac

The place for tasty dishes that are easy on the wallet. Order up Middle Eastern delicacies: an authentic cuisine that’s generous and perfumed with spices. Among the items on the menu, we suggest the falafels, garlic labneh and pretty much any of the salads. And if you’re veggie, this is the place of your dreams. Order on their website to have your meal delivered directly to the door.

Hang Time Pizza

A few minutes’ walk from the hostel, Hang Time Pizza serves up delicious New York and Detroit style pizzas. Each pizza is named after an iconic series from the Nineties. We recommend the Seinfeld with pepperoni, the cheesy Friends and the Beverly Hills with mushrooms. You can order a slice or a whole pizza.

Sam Cha

In the mood for Korean comfort food? Check out Sam Cha. Close to Concordia University, this super affordable restaurant offers plenty of specialities like fried ravioli, spicy marinated cabbage, sauteed noodles and traditional ragoûts. Dishes cost between $10 and $15. With the DoorDash app, you can have your meal delivered straight to the door (of the hostel if you’re staying with us).
