When you make a reservation with Saintlo, you must provide certain personal information so that we can process your request. This information is stored in the property management software we use to manage reservations.

If you become a member of Saintlo, you must provide certain personal information that we add to our database.

The information contained in our property management software or in our database can only be used for purposes related to Saintlo.  In some cases, we may be required by law to collect and retain certain types of personal information.

We collect personal information about you that is relevant to our business relationship or for governance purposes. In short, when you browse our website, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of all information entered on our website, as described in this policy.

Personal information collected :  

• May be used to personalize your experience at Saintlo Hostels.
• Is necessary to process your reservation request and for billing purposes. This information includes name, last name, email address, phone number, address, birth date, and payment information.
• Are retained no longer than is necessary for the purpose for which we collected it, and in accordance with any requirements that are imposed on us by law.
• May come from third party booking sites with whom we have a business relationship.
• May be accessed in part by trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or providing services to you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. In addition, we may disclose, use, aggregate, anonymize, or de-identify user information for marketing, advertising, research, compliance, or other purposes.
• May be used to send the association’s members Annual General Meeting and election materials.

Personal Information and Consent to Communications:

• When you make a reservation at an Auberges Saintlo, you authorize Saintlo to add your email address, first and last name to its mailing list.
• When you request information or make a reservation for a group using the online form on saintlo.ca, you authorize Saintlo to add your e-mail address, first and last name to its mailing list.
• By subscribing to the Saintlo newsletter, you agree to receive marketing information from Saintlo.
• At any time, you may opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us.  These communications include simple instructions on how to unsubscribe from our mailing list.

Personal information and application (employee, volunteer, blogger and collaborator)

• By using saintlo.ca to submit your job application or offer your services as a blogger or contributor, you consent to your personal information being shared with any Saintlo personnel involved in the hiring process. You also consent to these people contacting you.
• If you submit your application on saintlo.ca for a position at a member hostels (an independent inn that is promoted on saintlo.ca by Saintlo and with which it has a membership and marketing agreement), you consent to Saintlo sharing your application and personal information with the member hostel. You consent to the member hostel and/or Saintlo contacting you.
• By submitting your application on saintlo.ca, you consent to Saintlo adding your email address, first and last name to its mailing list.

Research and Surveys

We may conduct research or surveys that ask for demographic information and travel preferences. Participation in these surveys is completely optional. The information gathered will only be shared with third parties in the form of de-identified statistics. At no time will personal information be given to a third party without your knowledge or express permission.

Website  

We will use information obtained from visits to the Saintlo hostels’ website, as well as demographic data on its clientele, to compile statistics and reports for the exclusive use of Saintlo. We analyze the information collected in order to better understand our customers and their needs. The information used for this purpose excludes personal data.

Saintlo Hostels and St. Lawrence Youth Hostels Inc. have appropriate security mechanisms in place to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorized access. Only authorized personnel of these two entities have access to personal information.

They also allow us to measure the effectiveness of the website and analyze user behavior to improve our communications and products and the browsing experience.

Here are the various cookies we use on our site, as well as the purposes for which they are used.

We use cookies that are essential to the operation of the saintlo.ca site and cannot be deactivated. We also use analysis cookies to calculate traffic data for our website, like your IP address among other things.  We also use marketing cookies to better target ads on third-party sites such as Meta. We also use personalization cookies to help our site remember your browsing preferences.

Website users should be aware that Google Analytics is used by Saintlo to learn more about the demographic performance and interests” of website users. This data is anonymous and does not identify users browsing the website.

Minors

Saintlo does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18 on its Web site. If you become aware that Saintlo has inadvertently collected your child’s personal information on its Web site, please contact us.

With the consent of parents or the person in charge of the group that include minors, Saintlo collects certain personal information in its property management system.

Embedded content and links to other sites

• The Saintlo Hostels’ website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly the same as if the visitor had visited the other website.
• At our discretion, we may include or offer third-party products or services on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. Therefore, we are not responsible for the content, data collected and activities of these sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback on these sites.

Accuracy and access

Saintlo makes every effort to ensure that the personal information we collect is accurate and complete. Upon request, we will send you a copy of the personal information we have collected about you. If this information is inaccurate or incomplete, we will make the requested changes. We’re counting on you to let us know.

Saintlo will respond to any request within a reasonable timeframe from the day of the reception of your written request. If your request is refused, the person responsible for personal information will provide you with written reasons for the refusal.

Policy Modification

Saintlo may modify this privacy policy to reflect changes in its procedures. The modifications come into effect when they are put on the Saintlo site online. Users are considered to have accepted the modifications to this policy if they continue to supply personal information to Saintlo after the publication of the modifications.
